Demonstration to condemn Data Darbar massacre paralyzes Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, July 3, 2010: Sunni Ittehad Council staged a demonstration here on Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazar against Punjab Government for its alleged negligence in suicide attacks on Data Ganj Baksh shrine, Lahore.
The local chapter of Sunni Ittehad Council gave a call for a demonstration and staged a rally starting from Banni Chowk that ended on Liaquat Bagh Chowk. Local clerics and devotees attended the rally in large numbers to express their anger and grief over the unfortunate incident as they blamed the government for not providing sufficient security to the shrine.
Ulma in their address accused the Punjab government and asked for an inquiry into the matter to fix the criminal responsibility on the security officials deputed on the shrine. They also expressed their reservations on ties of Provincial Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah with the heads of proclaimed religious outfits. They demanded of Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif to take back the charge of Law Ministry from Rana Sana Ullah.
The enraged devotees set on fire different posters, banners and sign boards containing photographs of Punjab Chief Minister and other local leaders of PML-N. Tyres were burnt to block roads and the markets in observed complete shutter down, paralyzing the business in the city. – INFN (With picture)
