‘Lack of Faith’ or ‘Over-Confidence about Ominous Future’:

Mirza for buying ration for ‘the year’ against ‘a month’ advised by Altaf

Senior Minister of Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza Wednesday has said that it is wise to buy ration for the whole year owning to the ‘growing inflation’.

It should be mentioned here that MQM chief Altaf Hussain has earlier advised people to buy ration for one month and in case they do not have money they were told to sale out their valuable household items in order to buy ration. This shows the urgent nature and sensitivity of the issue. Had these statements been issued for fear of ‘growing inflation’, the leaders would not have stressed people to this much extent.

He had also given 48-hour ultimatum to control the target killing in Karachi but unfortunately the unbreakable surge of target killing is not coming to an end.

President Asif Ali Zardari in the meanwhile has called an emergency meeting of Sindh cabinet to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi. Members of the Sindh cabinet are leaving for Islamabad to attend this meeting.

When Zulfiqar Mirza was sought to comment about the statement of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain regarding the collection of ration for at least one month, Mirza said “Wisdom demands it that people should buy ration for the whole year”. This statement has deep-rooted meanings and cannot be taken on literal or face value.

Rehman Malik is also on a visit of Karachi on the special orders of the Prime Minister and the President. Malik has presided over an important meeting to ponder the law and order situation in the metropolis. He said, “The reservation of Altaf Hussain is correct and we have given orders to police and Rangers to conduct search operation in the disputed areas.”

Awami National Party (ANP) has also shown serious concern over the statement of Altaf Hussain. The provincial spokesman of ANP has articulated the same saying that due to his statement the panic will increase among the people of Karachi.
