Sea Level to Rise One Meter per Century
Mangrove Forests of Pakistan Face Extinction

Sea levels are set to rise by up to a meter within a century due to global warming, a new Australian report recently published has disclosed, as it warned this could make "once-a-century" coastal flooding much more common.

The Australian government's first Climate Commission report said the evidence that the Earth's surface was warming rapidly was beyond doubt.

Drawn from the most up-to-date climate science from around the world, the report said greenhouse gas emissions created by human industry was the likely culprit behind rising temperatures, warming oceans, and rising sea levels.

The report said a sea-level rise of 0.5m would lead to surprisingly large impacts, with the risk of extreme events such as inundations in coastal areas.

Pakistan also is a victim of the climate change due to rising sea level in Indus delta. The mangrove forests of Pakistani costal area are under the biodiversity loss by shortage of fresh waters in Indus and by the increasing level of the bitter water.

Unfortunately there is no work worth-mentioning in progress to monitor and cope up with the situation. World Wildlife Federation (WWF) is doing some efforts in the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan for recovery and rehabilitation of mangroves. But serious steps should be taken by the government and non government organizations to save the dying species of Pakistan.
