Proper plan for disposal of offal demanded

By Fahad Ameer

As the Eid-ul-Azha is round the corner, people of Rawalpindi are again concerned about the disposal of sacrificial animals’ offal and garbage. They demanded that the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Rawalpindi must chalk out a proper plan for the swift collection of animal’s offal from every nook and corner of the city.

In the past, citizens had to face trouble for a long period as city government does not pay any attention to collect the waste and offal of the animals.  They have to face many problems as the offal near the houses makes the environment unhygienic.

The residents of different localities throw the garbage near any empty ground or corner of the street as the streets have no proper garbage disposal points. They demanded for provision of such points and their timely cleaning.

Mohammad Aslam, resident of Sadiq Abad said, “Stinking of offal and garbage stands for a long time because city government doesn’t collect them quickly”.

“City Government must draw a comprehensive plan to hold sanitation camps in every street of the city where we could throw the offal easily and that garbage should be lifted from the area at time” said Ahmad Hassan, resident of Satellite Town.

Due to the prevailing fear of dengue fever around the country, people also expressed their concern regarding the situation if the garbage would not be lifted at time then the danger of  mosquitoes could be increased. “By lifting the waste of animals on time, the environment could be kept hygienic and there will be less threat of diseases around us” said Sidra Iqbal, a medical practitioner.

Talking to INFN, an official of TMA said that we had already divided the city on the bases of union councils and sanitary inspectors had been appointed there. He further told that in case of any complain the citizen could contact the inspectors.
