Germany donates 400 Books to QAU

ISLAMABAD, October 4, 2010: “Federal Republic of Germany has extended its support to Pakistani universities particularly Quaid-i-Azam University in the field of research on ancient civilizations under the department of Taxila Institute of Ancient Civilizations (TIAC).”
This was said by German Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Michael Koch here in a ceremony at Islamabad Club on Monday.
The German government has provided more than 400 books to the library of Taxila institute of Ancient Studies, a department of Quaid-i-Azam University in the first phase of collaboration. The German government is keen to provide a grant of about Rs. 45 Million to department for research on ancient civilizations.
In his address, Mr. Koch said that Germany gives an importance to Pakistan as it is centre of different civilizations. That’s why German government thought to join hands with the TIAC department of university in order to promote research on the ancient civilizations.
Earlier Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, vice chancellor QAU highlighted the contributions of the university in field of research. He told that university is highly ranked in international institutions of research. He also unveiled the future plans of the university which include establishment of a School of Law, and starting a 4 year Honors program of graduation.
Dr. Sohail Naqvi, Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the collaboration of university and German Embassy in the field of research. He termed Pakistan as a hub of different cultures and civilizations.
Later, Professor Doctor. Ashraf, Director TIAC thanked the German Ambassador for the cooperation in the field of Research.
