BISE Gujranwala:
Unjustified Increase of Rs 550 in Verification Fee;
Unnecessary Delay in Degree Verification irks the Students
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala (BISEG) has increased the fee of degree verification from Rs 1000 to 1550 per degree.
According to the staff of degree verification section, the current increase in the fee is because the government of Punjab is not providing them sufficient amount of money, so they have to make such policies to collect more money from the general public.
Another staff member quoted another major reason behind the boosting of amount of fee is the fact that examiner of certificate is receiving 50 rupees per copy to check it and there are millions of people who are still standing in the waiting list. The delivery and printing expenses have also increased so it is impossible to drive the system with the old expenses.
Judit Suleman, a recent victim of the verification section who was crying over the unprofessional behaviour of the board authorities shared with INFN, “I am here from Sialkot to receive my verified documents and I have plans to go abroad after a week. Now the staffers tell me that your name on the photocopy is misprinted so they are advising me to come on Monday because the signature of superintendent of verification section is a must before you can receive the verified document.”
When INFN asked about the Superintendent a staffer calmly replied, “He is on leave”. When inquired about the alternate of superintendent to run the system of organization and save the time of the students of distant areas, the answer of the staffer was speechless.
Another aggrieved man IKram Rasheed from Ahmad Nagar who had the expression of grief when asked said, “I have got 406 marks in Intermediate Exam in 1993, however I have grade C on my result card and now the board staff is showing me the mistake and are asking me to covert this grade C into D, because the candidate who gets 406 marks deserves grade D rather than C. It was a blunder of the board officials and now they are making me pay for it.”
“In these circumstances the education board is giving mental torture to the students and the only thing they are not offering is education to our generation. I plead the Education Minister of Punjab to take strict notice of these blunders and delays and there should be check and balance on the self-implemented hike in verification fee as is done by the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education,” IKram Rasheed regretted.
