Residents of G-11 Bubbling due to Water Scarcity
It is quite hot now-a-days in the capital, making it difficult for people to go outdoors. The markets and roads present a deserted look. Not only the Power crisis is making lives uneasy in this scorching heat but also shortage of water in the sectors of capital city like G-11, also has become a sever problem for the residents.
“We have acute shortage of water in Islamabad and in G-11 sector in particular. The underground water level has gone down and our water pump motors have become useless. The other source of supply is CDA. CDA is so busy in beautifying the city that it has forgotten the more essential things like water supply” Ayaz Qureshi, a resident of G-11 told, while talking to INFN.
“We have no underground water and no water supply from CDA, for getting water we have to dial the CDA helpline number after the Fajar Prayers, which gets through after almost an hour of continuous effort. They give us a number and we start waiting for the water tanker to come,” Khateeb of an under construction mosque in G-11 told on the condition of anonymity. “This whole effort results in getting us water for our daily use. On an unlucky day when CDA tanker doesn’t come we have to call for a private tanker. They are charging different prices for a tanker that ranges from Rs 500 to 1500. Water is precious,” he said with heavy heart.
G-11 Markaz is on a height from the other parts of the sector, and the crisis of water has worst affected the business of the footpath vendors, like Burger, Samosas, Chaat etc. “We are the daily earners of our family. In summer especially due to water shortage our business suffers badly. The shop holders do not allows us to borrow water from their shops, said Muhammad Waheed, Ahmad Mushtaq, and Ali Zaib talking to INFN.
People of every walk of the life demanded that the supply of water by CDA must be improved and ensured and the tube wells and water filtration plants should be installed in sector G-11 too.
