Government-NGO collaboration: the only way to fight out climate related disasters
“Government and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) need to join hands to overcome natural disasters occurring due to climate change” says Kalpana Murty, Environmental Health Sciences Officer of the U.S. Embassy.
Speaking at a function in connection with International Earth Day at Fatima Jinnah Women’s University (FJWU) here on Tuesday, she called for mobilizing resources to deal with the environmental changes. “Natural environment is a blessing of God and we should value it,” she stressed.
Dr. Azra Yasmin, Chairperson Department of Environmental Sciences said FJWU has always encouraged activities that contribute positively towards the betterment of environment. She welcomed all the worthy guests from US Embassy and faculty members of university who attended the function.
Afshan Ameer, Director Information, Research and Communication (IRC) of the U.S. embassy, apprised the students of the working of IRC and briefed them about the research collaboration and links that are dealing with environmental issues.
A large number of Faculty Members and Students of Environmental Sciences Department and Communication and Media Sciences Department attended the program. The program was organized in order to enhance student’s awareness about environmental and climate change across the world.
