Pay salaries to 500 education department staff: CPDI
The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) Wednesday called upon the federal government to pay salaries to around 500 teaching and non-teaching staff performing duties under Federal Directorate of Education.
It is a matter of concern for all those who want to see education atop national priorities that these education staff members have not reportedly been paid salaries for last 16 months, said the CPDI.
“Such issues are bound to crop up when institutions are run on ad-hoc basis. Federal Directorate of Education does not have full time Director General and Acting Director General is also serving as Chairperson Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education,” said the CPDI.
Apart from creating administrative chaos, such double postings create situation of conflict of interest as well. CPDI believes that head of Federal Directorate of Education, responsible for ensuring the imparting of education to the students should not be the head of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, responsible for examining the same students.
