Hopes and fears of Pakistani youth

The phase of history in which our country is passing through has not only weaken the financial capacity of a common man but it has also affected affluent people as well besides youth who are very much worried and have fear amidst optimism. They do not understand what might be the future of this country owing to the escalating situation day by day, which has all of a sudden made our younger generation to stop and think of their own as well as their country’s future.

During a discussion form of IQRA University students with media expressed their grievances, concerns and their fear and hope regarding their country. They said that there is no merit-based system and security issue is getting worse which are the main contributing factors in bringing hurdles in the progress and prosperity of this country. One of the students said what is the benefit of clinching first position and good marks throughout the career if we know that we are not going to be entertained and would be rejected for the job? Those people are going to get the jobs that have links and approach inside the organization. This perception is very common in our youth today regarding the dilemma of links and chit without which nothing could be achieved.

People are worried and conscious about their well being as well due to the widespread terror in our country. Humanity is nowhere to be found. The pathetic situation of the interior Sindh is obvious, where lot of people died owing to hunger and starvation while living under the open sky.

Politicians are not in lack of anything they could help them out of the miseries but despite helping them directly they started raising funds in their own accounts. The PM and his son have different fund-raising accounts while almost no help is being given to them. This time no one had contributed a single penny, said a student from Balochistan.

Corruption and inflation are also increasing rapidly which is also a great concern for the youth and on the other hand this country is also under the threat and conspiracies of the outside world. They said that people fear to go outside like universities and to markets for shopping, they fear of losing their life in a terrorist attack.

Another group of students shared their fears that students with the degrees from foreign countries are preferred for employment. Now there is market competition in job market as well.

There are lots of educational institutions like universities and schools which are not considered safe while the students are also having insecurity in their mind. Campus stay and love of Alma Mater is also being lessoned due to the fears and concerns of the threats of bomb blasts.
